NGO
Forum is the apex networking and service delivery agency
of NGOs, CBOs (community based organization) and private
sector and civil society actors who implement water and
sanitation (WatSan) programmes at the unserved and
underserved rural and urban communities. NGO Forum works as development partner with all relevant national and international agencies and stakeholders ranging from the government and civil society to donor organizations. In line the initiatives taken by United Nations General Assembly regarding International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Decade (IDWSSD) NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation was formed in 1982 to support and strengthen the WatSan Projects of the NGOs in the un-served and underserved areas of Bangladesh. From its inception to till now, around 25 millions people are benefited through its country-wide working structure in communication with 735 partner NGOs and CBOs. NGO Forum s entire working environment is encompassed into 14 regions with administrative and management setup at each of the regional offices |

NGO Forum is a national apex networking
service delivery organization in the water supply and
sanitation sector dedicated to contribute in the
improvement of the public health status of the poor and
disadvantaged women, children and men of Bangladesh. |

The policy decisions of NGO Forum are made by a 7-member Executive Committee (EC) which is elected from and by the Executive Committee. Executive Committee of NGO Forum is chaired by Dr. Fazle Hasan Abed, chairperson of BRAC. Mr. S.M.A. Rashid is the Executive Director of this organization. NGO Forum is functioning with a set-up of one central office in Dhaka and 14 regional offices. Again each regional office is characterized by the administrative and management set-up. |

Regional Demarcation

A total
of 715 staff had been working with NGO Forum at the end of
2005. Among them, 178 were regular staff, 476 were project
staff, 143 were working in the central office and the rest
of 572 staff were working under the regional offices. NGO
Forum believes that efficient staff is a significant
parameter of organizational strength. The Forum considers
them as the most valuable resources. NGO Forum wants and
tries to maintain an environment free from discrimination,
gender discrimination etc. Of the total staff, 151 were
female, out of whom 32 were working in the Central Office
and 119 in the Regional Offices. Besides a total of 251`
personnel were appointed throughout the year 2005. among
them 23 staff were recruited on regular basis, 220 staff
were recruited as project staff and 8 were recruited as
contractual staff. Among the recruited staff 71 were
female and 180 male |

NGO Forum works on the basis of software and hardware programmes. Hardware consists of MATERIAL SUPPORT to improve water and sanitation situation e.g. Deep-set Pump, Deep Tubewell, Rain-water Harvesting System, Pond Sand Filter etc. Software support comprises of all the ACTIVITIES needed to build capacity of the local organizations and to mobilize people at various levels like the policy-makers, planners, media representatives, implementers, WatSan private sector actors and the community people.
