Maintaining Access to Safe Water and Sanitation in Nayapara and Kutupalong Refugee Camps in Bangladesh

Duration:    March 2016 to December 2016.

 

The project aims at focusing on the maintenance of sanitation facilities, fecal sludge management and solid waste management to ensure that sanitation standards are met for the camp population. Apart from this, the project envisions to operate comprehensive programme to ensure the delivery of sanitation and hygiene promotion, and waste management component through building the capacity and improving the delivery mechanism, maintaining a closer linkage with stakeholders and duty bearers for providing better WaSH services to the communities across the refugee settlements following the UNHCR standards.

 

Objectives:

 

1.    Population lives in satisfactory conditions of sanitation and hygiene

       Output: Community sanitary facilities /latrines constructed

       Output: Community solid waste management services provided

 

2.    Operations management, coordination and support strengthened and optimized

      Output: General project management services provided

 

Intervention Areas:

Kutupalong Camp, Ukhiya and Nayapara Camp, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar
