Community Managed Water Supply and Sanitation Programme for the Rural Chittagong Hill Tracts

OBJECTIVES:

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the reduction of the water and excrete born diseases in the target communities and thereby contributing to an improvement in the public health conditions of the rural poor in CHT

 

EXPECTED RESULTS:

# Strengthened capacity of the staff of the partner NGOs in the effective implementation and management of community managed water and sanitation programme

# Establishment of community based management and service delivery groups with the capacity and appropriate materials to facilitate and promote the use of safe water supply and hygiene latrine

# Improved knowledge, attitude and practices on the use of safe water, hygienic latrine and personal hygiene

# Fully operational water supply and sanitation facilities installed and appropriately maintained and

# Increased awareness/knowledge of the water and sanitation situation in the CHT through the dissemination of project learning

Chittagong Hill Tracts:  Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachari

# Plastic ring-slab is popularized in CHT

# Ownership feeling increased in the communities

# Public health condition improved

# Safe water supply ensured at targeted areas

# Hygienic WatSan practice has been increased

# WatSan issues are more clear to the communities as a Fundamental Human Right
